de Brún to chair EU Conference on Climate Change and Food Supply

Sinn Féin MEP Bairbre de Brún will chair a conference tomorrow, Wednesday 12th November 2008, in the European Parliament dealing with the issue of biofuels, food security and climate change.

Speaking ahead of the conference Ms de Brún said:

“The theme is very topical given the proposed EU climate and energy legislation. The conference is entitled ‘Feeding the World under Climate Threat?’ and will look at agriculture, including biofuels, its impact on climate change and the contribution agriculture can make to tackling global warming.” ENDS

Ms de Brún is a member of the European Parliament Environment Committee and the Temporary Committee on Climate Change.

She recently attended the AFBI conference in Newcastle on the issue of renewable energy and agriculture.

Ms de Brún will also attend the United Nations Climate Change Conference in PoznaÅ„, Poland in December.
