Bairbre de Brún MEP today led a delegation of children’s organisations the NSPCC, the ISPCC and Barnardos to meet with the British Direct Rule Health Minister Shaun Woodward. Sinn Féin Assembly member Sue Ramsey also accompanied the delegation for the meeting to discuss cross border child protection issues.

Ms de Brún said:

” The discussion at today’s meeting was lively and constructive. While those taking part in the discussion were from different backgrounds and organisations, we were in strong agreement that it is of paramount importance that we ensure our children are protected across the island.

” The delegation came away with a clear impression that the Department will find ways to engage on the points raised. Child protection is clearly an area in which the Minster Shaun Woodward knows a good deal about.” ENDS
